Thanks to all those attended including the Waitoa School, the Conservation Volunteers, the staff from Waitoa and Morrinsville (many who came in on their days off). Fantastic effort today! Over the coming years we will continue to plant and watch this first round grow and mature. It was a magic day and fair to say the weather gods were smiling on us.

We have just completed a most successful week with your team of Conservation Volunteers. John was a great team leader and was able to get the team of diverse young adults to work well together. John is very knowledgeable about the conservation work and very helpful and he also advised us on a number issues for which we are very grateful. We really appreciate all the effort put in by all the volunteers and they achieved a lot during their stay at CUE Haven. We have updated the CUE Haven website to reflect their contribution and you can read about it at http://cuehaven.com/whats-new/ Thank You very much for all your assistance and we do hope that Fonterra can assist us again later this winter as we would like to have the Conservation Volunteers come out for 2 weeks then.

I was part of the Fonterra Team who assisted with the programme at Richard Dwyers property in Taranaki last week. Despite the weather and the terrain, we all had an enjoyable time. The rain held off but the wind didn't abate but once we got down into the lake gully, we were well sheltered and no sooner had we begun, than some of us were removing hats and jackets because we were feeling the heat. Probably the biggest challenge of the day was for those of us who found ourselves at the bottom of the hill and when we looked up, wondered how on earth we were going to get to the top again! I'm pleased to hear that the efforts of all have made such great progress in helping promote the growth of the native planting. My thanks to Shaun McClung and Steve Smith for coordinating the day which was followed by a hearty lunch and thanks also to Fonterra for releasing us for the day to take part in this joint venture.

Great that land prepared, trees set out, weed mat cut out and ready. Whole planting experience was good. Well organized.

I thought that the Catchment Care volunteers (and Bruce) worked very well. I was really impressed with the amount of work they got through in the time they were with us, and their attitudes even when the going wasn't that easy. The landowners were thrilled with their efforts. I would definitely be keen to look at some more days.

Interesting! What is the ongoing management regime for this area? What other areas are being planted under this regime along the Waimakariri? Is this an ECan Reserve? - a "nature reserve" under the Reserves Act? how big? Thanks, & best wishes.

To have Conservation Volunteers encourage our 25 regular volunteers in this task has been a real boost. The CVNZ have been well equipped and had excellent supervisors. They have worked well as a team in this project. We are very grateful for this ongoing contribution from Fonterra to the protection and enhancement of the Reserve.

We appreciated having CVNZ. It helped to take the pressure of our schedule to fully release all our plantings. We enjoy the people of CVNZ, they are a happy bunch, diligent and courteous. Also, we want to congratulate Fonterra with finding the resources to establish this programme, and giving farmers a helping hand in establishing riparian zones on their farms. We hope that this initiative will be successful in the future, and that it will encourage more farmers to use this option to add environmental value to their property and community.
