It is also the headwater gully area and a water source for the Kaipara Harbour. Additionally 645 meters of walking tracks were constructed, 15 meters of tracks were maintained and 332 meters of land was fenced off to help keep pests out of the catchment and away from the young native trees and wildlife. 140 volunteer days were carried out on this site.
